Ross Turrell, the commercial director for specialist lender CHL Mortgages for Intermediaries, has announced his retirement.
Turrell, who has enjoyed a distinguished 40-year career working in financial services, is stepping down from the role after more than four years in the position. He will be replaced by Darrell Walker, the director of sales & distribution for recently launched lender ModaMortgages, who will become group sales director for both brands.
ModaMortgages is part of Chetwood Financial, the UK-based digital challenger bank, which acquired CHL Mortgages for Intermediaries in May 2024.
It is Turrell’s second spell with the lender after originally joining them in 1998 as a business development manager, before working his way up to sales manager and then national field manager. He subsequently went on to work as sales director with Fleet Mortgages and head of sales for KSEYE Bridging, before rejoining CHL Mortgages for Intermediaries in October 2020.
Walker has been with ModaMortgages for the past two years and has been instrumental in bringing the lender’s proposition to market. He is an experienced and award-winning bank and financial services leader and has previously held positions at Shawbrook Bank, OneSavings Bank, Legal & General and Lloyds Banking Group.
Turrell said: “After more than four decades working in financial services, now seems a good time to step back and hand over the reins to someone new. I’m looking forward to spending some quality time with my family and having more time to spend pursuing some of my pastimes.
